I act as the HR Manager to small business who have never had that experience within their own business.
The HR: Refined. approach is unique as it is service-based, value-focused, and non-prescriptive.
We first learn what a business’ day-to-day current state is, then what its operational strengths and needs are, and finally develop and direct the implementation of an HR strategy to suit.
I work closely with operations, accounting, and marketing to make sure all aspects of the HR strategy align with the team’s understanding as well as the business’ brand and financial goals.
I’m also the person small business owners and leaders can call on confidentially to discuss their fears, worries, and wild ideas.
I’m a creative problem solver and lifelong learner; I’m usually always taking a course or training to learn a new skill. I enjoy outdoors activities with my family.
I regularly provide voluntary professional advice, speak to and train student groups on how to seek employment and perform mock interviews as part of learning, and mentor more junior HR practitioners.
A generalist HR consultant understands the ways in which functions of the HR discipline integrate into a business’ strategy, day-to-day operations, and brand. As a simple example: a recruiter sells you talent; an HR consultant teaches you how to get it yourself based on everything you can afford, need, and do.
